Philadelphia Man Pleads Guilty to DUI in Connection With Fatal Crash in Norristown

Djuan Scott, 25, had vehicular homicide charges dropped

A Philadelphia man pleaded guilty Thursday to driving under the influence of a controlled substance in connection with a fatal accident in Norristown, according to the Mercury News.

However, the report says Djuan Dominique Stout, 25, won’t face vehicular homicide charges from a November 2013 accident on East Main and Arch Streets when Norristown’s Gary Malone, who was driving a motorcycle, collided into the side of Stout’s SUV.

Prosecutors reportedly dropped the vehicular homicide charge against Stout, who had traces of marijuana in his bloodstream, because they found insufficient proof during their investigation.

It was also determined that Malone, who was later pronounced dead at an area hospital, was allegedly speeding at the time of the accident and had a blood-alcohol content of 0.18, more than double the legal limit of 0.08.

According to the report, Stout faces a mandatory 72-hour jail sentence, but prosecutors could argue for more jail time at the sentencing hearing.
