Exploring PA: Rent A Houseboat On This Huge Lake

Forget a waterfront home. Vacation in style at Raystown Lake with everything you need out on the water itself.

PENNSYLVANIA — While Pennsylvania is chock-full of gorgeous waterfront rentals, cabins, woodsy mansions, and all sorts of wild vacation real estate, there are also options for those who wish to leave the landlubbers behind.

Out at Raystown Lake, the largest lake entirely contained within Pennsylvania, residents have a chance to experience an entirely different type of getaway: the houseboat.

Rentals are available out of Seven Points Marina, located in Hesston in Huntingdon County. The houseboats contain everything you need to live for days out on the water, without touching land. They're outfitted with a gas grill, cooler, showers, bathrooms, and tanks for fresh water and wastewater.

Most have some sort of deck or outdoor living space, replete with patio furniture to relax on and enjoy sunny days and whatever waterfront sunset or sunrise view you can angle yourself into on the boat.

Additionally, some of the boats are specifically outfitted for four-legged companions, with dog-friendly amenities.

During the "in-season," which runs from now through Sept. 3, weekly or weekend rentals range in price from $1,500 to $3,900, largely depending on the size of the houseboat and other amenities.

All told, the marina has 19 different houseboats, with some designed for smaller, cozier trips with up to four people, and others for larger gatherings which can sleep 8 to 10.
