Second Saturday Jazz Playing at August Moon
The monthly installment of traditional jazz and spoken word will take place April 13.
The ongoing Second Saturday Jazz night will take place Aug. 13, from 7:30 – 11 p.m. at the August Moon restaurant, located at 300 E. Main St. in Norristown.
The evening will feature The George Weldon Quartet and Friends, as well as a spoken-word poet and guest musicians.
The Second Saturday Jazz evening is presented by Cryinsam Entertainment, whose founder, Rich Rogers, has been involved with revival of Jazz and the arts in Norristown, since moving there in 1999.

“We want to bring back Jazz in its traditional form, in a traditional jazz setting,” Rogers said. “And we like to think we are embracing those who are in the know, while educating those new to Jazz.”
He likens the atmosphere of August Moon on Second Saturday Jazz nights to that of the once famous, now closed, Philadelphia Jazz hotspot Zanzibar Blue. He adds that he is grateful to the August Moon owner and manager for helping him find a home for Jazz in Norristown.

“I saw that this was the spot,” Rogers said. “It’s been a good relationship with the family.”
