Montco Test Site Should Shelter Amid Severe Thunderstorm Warning

MONTGOMERY COUNTY, PA — A severe thunderstorm warning was issued in Montgomery County on Thursday afternoon.

A powerful front with winds up to 60 miles per hour and potentially damaging thunderstorms is moving through the region.

Individuals using the drive through coronavirus testing site should seek shelter, the National Weather Service said.

Heavy winds already brought down wires in Hatfield Township on Bethlehem Pike. Roofs, siding, trees, and power lines could all be impacted, officials said.

First responders were on the scene of more than dozen road obstructions as of about 2 p.m., according to MontcoPA Active Incidents.

Around 7,300 residents are already without power due to the storm.

I-476 from mile markers 0 to 19, the Northeast Extension from exits A20 to A31, I-676 from mile 0 to 1, I-76 from markers 327 to 350, and I-195 from 7 through 16 should all expect severe weather.

The NWS said that impacted locations include Philadelphia, West Chester, Norristown, Chester, Pottstown,Phoenixville, Lansdale, West Norriton, East Norriton, Coatesville,Yeadon, Westtown, Downingtown, Conshohocken, Hatboro, Folcroft, Jenkintown, Ambler, Swarthmore, Collegeville, and Royersford.

The warning will remain in effect until 2:15 p.m.
