Sheriff's Officers Apprehend Nine Alleged Deadbeat Parents

One suspect was turned over to Norristown Police for allegedly possessing marijuana.

The Montgomery County Sheriff’s Office conducted a sweep through the county, including Norristown, early Wednesday targeting parents allegedly behind on their child support payments, according to The Intelligencer.

The report states that the team of deputies apprehended nine individuals – eight fathers and one mother – who are believed to owe a combined $66,383 in late payments. The other towns included in the sweep are Abington, Horsham, Spring City, Royersford, and Pottstown.

According to the report, the sheriff’s officers were only responsible for executing the warrants, and a judge will determine how much money the suspects have to pay. One suspect was turned over to Norristown police for allegedly being in possession of an ounce of marijuana.
