Special Use Permits For Montco Parks Remain Suspended Till July

Organized events and races on the Schuylkill River Trail, Green Lane Park, and elsewhere will not be permitted until at least July.

MONTGOMERY COUNTY, PA — Acknolwedging the continued impacts of the pandemic, Montgomery County announced Tuesday that they will continue suspending the issuance of Special Use Permits for parks and county trails until at least July.

That means that organized events and races on some of the county's most popular green spaces will not get the green light until that point.

This comes as the county and much of the region continue to see an increase in cases amid the fourth wave of the virus.

This includes the length of the Schuylkill River Trail in Montgomery County, as well as the county's portion of the Chester Valley Trail. Events on the Perkiomen Trail, Audubon Loop, Cross County Trail, Wissahickon Green Ribbon Trail, and others are also impacted by the announcements.

Rentals of the county's indoor spaces is permitted, with occupancy limits of 50 percent still in place. Occupancy limits of 50 percent also apply to Green Lane Park's campgrounds.

Pavilions in county parks are not restricted in this manner; they can be rented as normal, although the county does require a COVID-19 Mitigation Plan be filed for any event with more than 250 people outdoors.

Some restrooms in county parks are open, while water fountains have been shut off.
