Stealing Political Yard Signs Is Illegal, Police In Montco Remind
Both Republicans and Democrats are complaining of political campaign signs being stolen as the election intensifies in Montgomery County.

MONTGOMERY COUNTY, PA — Thefts of yard signs are up in Montgomery County, days ahead of the conclusion of one of the most bizarre and intense election seasons in history.
Both Republicans and Democrats are complaining of political campaign signs being stolen in several area towns. The incidents have caused multiple police departments to issue reminders to the public that stealing yard signs is against the law and can be prosecuted.
"During this election season, Upper Providence would like to remind all that stealing political signs is a crime under Pennsylvania Title 18, Section 3921," the township police department shared this week.

Nearby, the Republican Committee of Chester County said that sign thefts had impacted what local residents were seeing when they drove on the road.
"Yes, we've had a lot of signs stolen," the party said in a statement. "Yes, that means you may not see as many Republican signs along the roadways. But taking our signs does not take away our support. There are a whole lot of enthusiastic Republicans in Chester County- and we can't wait to vote."

Democrats say they've been victimized, too. Thefts of yard signs valued at less than $50 constitute a third degree misdemeanor, police said.
