PennDOT Announces Highway Restrictions Ahead Of Storm
Commercial vehicles will be banned on many major roads, among other restrictions.

Authorities are imposing a series of restrictions on major highways across Pennsylvania in advance of the winter storm hitting the region on Tuesday and Wednesday, and many of them apply to major roads like I-76, I-95, and I-476 in the Philadelphia area.
The fourth nor'easter of the month is expected to dump as much as 12 to 18 inches of snow across much of the greater Philadelphia region. The Pennsylvania Department of Transportation said that the restrictions, beginning at 8 p.m., will focus on commercial vehicles and other large vehicles and trailers.

The following vehicle types will be banned from the roadway at that time: empty straight CDL-weighted trucks, tractors hauling double trailers, tractors hauling empty trailers, trailers pulled by passenger vehicles or pick-up trucks, motorcycles and recreational vehicles, and RVs.
Roads where the ban is in place include all of I-76 across the state, I-476 from the Turnpike to I-95, and Interstates 95, 99,176, and 78. I-80 from New Jersey to I-81, I-79 from the Turnpike to I-80, as well as I-81 from Maryland to I-80, are also part of the ban.

Meanwhile, all commercial vehicles will also be banned on I-70 from Maryland to the Turnpike, and the entire length of Interstates 83,84, and 380.
