Support For Trump Slips In Montco: Town-By-Town Vote Totals

MONTGOMERY COUNTY, PA — Declared the "key of the keystone state" by Montgomery County Deomcrats, several municipalities proved crucial in helping Joe Biden defeat Donald Trump in Pennsylvania and the presidential election at large.

Biden flipped 12 municipalities that Trump won in 2016, and most of them were in the southwestern part of the county. They included Limerick, Lower Frederick, Lower Pottsgrove, Lower Salford, New Hanover, Worcester, West Pottsgrove, Upper Pottsgrove, Telford, Souderton, Skippack, and Schwenksville.

Given that results across Pennsylvania were really all not that different from 2016 — Biden is leading by 45,000, and Trump won here by 44,000 four years ago — those local gains for Biden are all the more noteworthy.

Trump won nine Montco municipalities, most of them in the more rural western parts of the county, including East Greenville, Franconia, Green Lane, Upper Salford, Upper Hanover, Upper Frederick, Salford, Red Hill, Pennsburg.Trump did flip one minor municipality, winning Rockledge by four votes.

In the larger townships where Democrats traditionally have outsized support, Biden also made major gains. One of the biggest was Horsham, where he drew 2,000 more voters than Clinton in 2016. Meanwhile, the increased turnout gave Trump just 400 more votes there than four years ago. Similarly in West Norriton, Biden climbed by 1,300 over Clinton, while Trump added just 300. In Upper Dublin, Biden added 2,000, while Trump added 300.The story was the same in many places.

Biden was projected to win the presidency on Saturday once Pennsylvania was called for him. Trump has not yet conceded.

Both candidates put forth a fervent effort to win the Keystone State and its 20 electoral votes, with Trump holding four campaign events in the state on Oct. 31.
