MONTGOMERY COUNTY — The National Weather Service has confirmed there was a tornado in Montgomery County Tuesday. It was one of six tornadoes in the region as a result of Tropical Storm Isaias, which forged its destructive path through the region Tuesday.

The NWS Wednesday morning said it confirmed the tornadoes — two of which happened in suburban Philadelphia. In addition to the one in Montgomery County, there was another confirmed in Bucks County.

The specific locations and the EF-scale rating of the tornadoes was not released by the weather service Wednesday, as investigators are continuing to look at evidence. The full investigation "will likely take several days to complete, and it is possible that additional damage from the tornadoes may be found," the weather service said in a statement.

The high winds caused extensive damage at the Doylestown Hospital campus and were strong enough to blow off a portion of the roof of the Children's Village, an onsite childcare facility. Additionally, six cars that were in the parking lot were overturned by the winds, hospital officials said.

In addition to the tornadoes in Bucks and Montgomery county, two tornadoes from the storm system were confirmed at the Jersey Shore. Kent and New Castle counties in Delaware and Queen Anne's County, Maryland also experienced tornadoes.
