Upper Merion Set To Be Sprayed For West Nile Virus Control

After several humans tested positive for West Nile Virus in Pennsylvania, another Montgomery County community will be sprayed.

UPPER MERION, PA -- Another Montgomery County community will be sprayed for West Nile Virus control next week.

The Montgomery County Health Department announced Thursday that Upper Merion Township would be sprayed on Tuesday September 6 to help control the adult mosquito population.

The spraying will be done where sampling by the Health Department and PADEP has shown mosquitoes that carry the West Nile Virus.

Spraying will take place from 7:45 p.m. to 11:15 p.m. The spray-zone includes Valley Forge Memorial Gardens and the surrounding area, bounded by Route 202, Route 276, and Dekalb Road.

Workers use the same chemicals used in nearly every spraying in the region thus far in 2016: Duet Duel-action Adulticide, dispensed with a truck-mounted sprayer.

A rain date is set for Tuesday, September 13.
