A local teenager was charged after police said he fired several gunshots at his father.

UPPER MERION, PA — A Montgomery County teenager was charged after police said he fired several gunshots at his father.

The incident occurred on July 1 at 12:23 p.m. near Swedeland Park in Upper Merion Township.

Jesiah Ryder, 19, a former resident of the area, became involved in a verbal argument with his father, police said.

He ultimately fired several shots at this father, but none of them hit him, according to authorities.

Ryder fled the scene but was arrested shortly thereafter near the Belmont exit of the Schuylkill Expressway in Gladwyne.

Ryder was charged with attempted homicide and bail was set at $500,000. He was booked at Montgomery County Correctional Facility.
