Why is the Norristown City Emblem a Beehive on a Table?

You've always wanted to know and now we have the answer.

NORRISTOWN, PENNSYLVANIA — A beehive on a table. It's an evocative image and it's also the official emblem of the municipality of Morristown. But, why?

We took to Norristown Patch's Facebook page to check for theories behind the emblem.

Keith Howe nailed it: "Norristown is the county seat of Montgomery County hence the table and the beehive is for the motto fervet opus which means 'the works boils' so the Borough of Norristown is like the hive of the county."
