Young Child Donates to Children's Hospital On His Birthday

Weston Newswanger, a 5 year old cancer survivor, brings cheer to other children

Weston Newswanger, a five year old cancer survivor with a big heart, donated over 2,000 toys for children at Penn State Children's Hospital. He was diagnosed with rhabdomyosarcoma when he was 2 years old. Weston is currently two years cancer-free. This year for his birthday he asked his parents to donate Play-Doh and toy dinosaurs for the other kids at the hospital. He had one goal, "To help the people in the hospital to cheer up".

The hospital uses the toys and Play-Doh to help both out-patients and in-patients. It plays an important role in many areas of the children's hospital. It is used as a distraction as well as to help the kids relax and unwind. The hospital does not mind that it can be messy and it is a big help to them.

Weston and his family donated 1,263 containers of Play-Doh, 1,249 dinosaurs and 71 superhero toys with 16 capes. His mother Amy is not surprised by his generous heart and his excitement to collect the items. Weston is a joy to all who know him.
