Chainsmokers Top 5 Things To Do Around Upper St. Clair This Weekend

A stark study in contrasts: Last weekend, there wasn’t much to do around town because of Easter and Passover. This weekend, there’s a veritable smorgasbord of smashingly fun activities for folks to enjoy.

Let’s start with the Chainsmokers, who have have become one of the hottest musical acts in America.

The New York City-based, disc jockey-producer-songwriter duo of members Andrew Taggart and Alex Pall rose to fame with their 2014 single “Selfie.” “They followed that up with hits such as Closer” and “Paris” and Don’t Let Me Down,” which won a Grammy Award in February for best dance recording.

The pair will perform Saturday at 6 p.m. at PPG Paints Arena with special guests Kiiara and Emily Warren. Chainsmokers tickets start at $24.

Other weekend highlights:

• PPG Party for the Planet, Pittsburgh Zoo & PPG Aquarium, April 22 from 11 a.m.-2p.m.

Celebrate Earth Day at the zoo and find out how you can become a conservationist and help protect the planet. The event includes recycling games, eco-crafts and instruction on how to reduce your carbon footprint. • Pittsburgh Craft Beer Week Annual Fun Run, Caliente Pizza & Draft House, Mt. Lebanon, April 22 from noon- 4 p.m.

This year’s run, hosted by the Pittsburgh Hash House Harriers, begins and ends at Caliente. The $10 entry fee includes two beers on the course and two beers at Caliente (presumably they will be from Victory Brewery, since it’s sponsoring the event. • The McCartney Project, Oaks Theater, Oakmont, April 22 at 7:30 p.m.

You say you’d like to see Sir Paul perform at PPG Paints Arena on Saturday, but the Chainsmokers already have the place booked? Then do the next best thing to seeing Macca - see McCartney lookalike and soundalike Tony Burlingame and his band recreate the best of the Beatles, the monster hits of wings, and McCartney’s solo hits. McCartney Project tickets start at $18.

• “Death of a Salesman,” O’Reilly Theater, Downtown, April 22 at 8 p.m., April 23 at 2 p.m. and 7 p.m.

Arthur Miller’s masterpiece about aging, economics, and the American Dream has retained all its relevance and power in this Pittsburgh Public Theater production. This Tony Award and Pulitzer Prize-winning play tells the story of Willy Loman, the most famous traveling salesman in history. “Death of a Salesman” tickets start at $30.
