USC School District Approves Tax Hike

UPPER ST. CLAIR, PA — The Upper St. Clair school board has approved a 2021-22 budget that includes a 2.9 percent millage increase. The $91.8 million spending plan hikes millage by o.78 mills to 27.67 mills.
The annual tax impact of the increase on a $230,800 home, the average assessed home in Upper St. Clair, is $180.02 or $15 per month. To calculate the impact on a specific property value, property owners should multiply the real estate's assessed value by 0.00078.
“Throughout the budget process, we have worked to prioritize maintaining a high-quality education for our students; balancing the needs of the school district while recognizing its fiduciary responsibilities to the community; and remaining cognizant of the interdependence of all aspects that directly and indirectly affect the student school experience,” superintendent John Rozzo said in a district release.

More than 78 percent of the district's budget is funded by local taxpayers. State funding totals approximately 20 percent with federal money accounting for less than two percent.
