Funeral Arrangements Set For Flash Flood Victim

Wendy Abbott lost her life during last week's severe storms.

UPPER ST. CLAIR, PA - Funeral arrangements have been scheduled for Wendy Garland Abbott, the Upper St. Clair woman who died Wednesday during a flash flood.

Ms. Abbot, 63, was born in Pittsburgh and graduated from Carlynton High School. After graduating from Chatham University, she moved to Houston and worked for the Transco energy Corp., where she specialized in audio-visual and graphic arts and volunteered for the Society of Technical Communication.

Ms. Abbott returned to Pittsburgh to be with her family and was the primary caretaker for her elderly parents. She was an active member of the Carnegie Presbyterian Church, where she served as a Deacon and had a position on the church finance board.

She was an active member of the St. Clair Women’s Club, the Association of University People and the American Society for the Prevention of Animal Cruelty, the Pittsburgh-are Jitterbug Club and the SNPJ Club. She enjoyed bowling, movies, trips to Kennywood and special times shared with her family.

Ms. Abbott was the daughter of D. Abbott Stevens, her father the late Harry E. Abbott, stepfather Robert T. Stevens, Sr., sister of Gail Abbott Fass and Ted Fass, Susan Abbott, nieces and nephews, Allison Kapelner, Jordan Kaplener, Rachel Betlyon, Andrew Betlyon and Grey “Chase” Hoff, Jr,, and great-nephews Jayson Kaplener, Nolan Betlyon and Trevor Betlyon.

Visitation is 6-8 p.m. Monday and 2-4p and 6-8 p.m. Tuesday at Henney, Bradwell & Nirella Funeral Home, 524 Washington Ave., Carnegie. Funeral Service will be held Wednesday 10:30 a.m. at Carnegie Presbyterian Church, 219 Ewing Rd., Collier Township.
