Pearl Jam Aiding Pittsburgh Special Needs Charity

The Seattle grunge rockers are assisting the Miracle League of the South Hills by donating items to the organization's annual auction.

UPPER ST. CLAIR, PA - Seattle rockers Pearl Jam are helping to raise money for the Miracle League of the South Hills - an organization that maintains a custom-designed field and playground that allows special needs children and adults to play baseball.

A number of Pearl Jam items signed by lead singer Eddie Vedder will be auctioned off at the Feb. 21 Miracle Bash in South Park, the Miracle League's largest fundraiser of the year. PeaIrl Jam also is promoting the event on its Twitter feed.

It's unclear what the connection is between Pearl Jam and the Miracle League, the brainchild of Upper St. Clair native and former Major League Baseball player Sean Casey. Now an MLB Network analyst, Casey played for the Cleveland Indians, Cincinnati Reds, Pittsburgh Pirates, Detroit Tigers and Boston Red Sox.
