Pittsburgh's Last Remaining Disney Store To Close

An era of Disney stores in Pittsburgh is about to end.

BETHEL PARK, PA — Mickey Mouse is not amused. Southwestern Pennsylvania's last remaining Disney store in South Hills Village is closing its doors for good.

Disney announced the Pittsburgh location will be among more than three dozen that will shut down before the end of the month. Last month, the Walt Disney Company announced at least 60 Disney stores in North America will close this year.

The 60 stores are about one-third of all Disney locations in North America.

"While consumer behavior has shifted toward online shopping, the global pandemic has changed what consumers expect from a retailer," Stephanie Young, president of Disney's consumer products, games and publishing unit, said in a news release.

With the closing of the South Hills Village location, the nearest Disney store will be located in Columbus, Ohio.
