South Hills Village Restaurant Hit With Consumer Alert

Live roaches, numerous other health code violations found during a Wednesday inspection.

UPPER ST. CLAIR, PA -The Allegheny County Health Department has issued a consumer alert for the Saga Habachi Steakhouse in South Hills Village after live roaches and numerous other health code violations were found during a Wednesday inspection.

An inspector saw two live roaches in the dishwashing area and observed numerous roach droppings on the walls and near the ceiling panels. A few fruit flies also were seen in the dishwashing area.

  • Various floor areas had an accumulation of grease and food debris.
  • Mop water was being dumped into the food prep sink.
  • Numerous surfaces and equipment pieces need cleaned because of mold and food buildup.
  • A cook dropped a pair of tongs on the floor and began to hang them back onto the over handle for reuse before the inspector told the cook they must be washed before reuse.
  • Numerous foods were being stored at unsafe temperatures.
  • A lack of soap at the handwash sink in the dishwashing area.
  • Containers of foods were stacked without covers.

The restaurant remains open pending an upcoming re-inspection.
