St. Clair Shores To Inspect For Snow Removal Feb. 13
After the city's declaration of a snow event this weekend, inspectors will be out Tuesday to check that snow has been cleared.

The City of St. Clair Shores declared a “snow event,’ effective 8:00 a.m. Sunday, Feb 11. Because of the the large amount of snow that fell across the region this weekend - some places got as much as a foot of snow - the city put the snow event into effect in part to make sure residents know they need to clear paths and sidewalks. At 8:00 a.m. Tuesday, Feb 13, the city inspectors will canvas St. Clair Shores and serve written notice to any property owner who hasn’t removed all snow and ice from the sidewalk attached to the property.
For residents who cannot or will not remove snow and ice, the city will send contractors to any cited property within 20 hours of the notice. The contractors will remove all snow and ice, assessing the costs and administrative fees to the property owner, according to a notice the city posted to its Facebook page. The city does offer a free snow removal program for low-income people with chronic health problems or disabilities.
Conditions on main roads in St. Clair Shores are still fairly snowy and slushy, as residents noted on the city’s Facebook. One resident posted a picture of the slushy condition on Mack Avenue south of downtown with the comment “Maybe you shouldn’t worry about residents clearing sidewalks when you can’t even clear your roads.”
