State Rep. John Maher Waives DUI Hearing

Maher, the veteran lawmaker from Upper St. Clair, now faces arraignment on DUI and other charges.

UPPER ST. CLAIR, PA - State Rep. John Maher on Tuesday waived his preliminary hearing on DUI charges and will be formally arraigned in October at the Cumberland County Courthouse near Harrisburg.
Maher remains free on his own recognizance after waiving the hearing. He was pulled over and arrested by police in Cumberland County on June 13 and his blood-alcohol level was at least 0.16, which is twice the legal limit. He also was charged with making an unsafe U-turn and driving the wrong way.
Maher, 58, of Upper St. Clair, was pulled over on a capitol session day. It’s not known if he was pulled over immediately after the session or later.
Maher has served in the House since 1997. His district includes parts of Allegheny and Washington counties, including Upper St. Clair and Peters Township.
