U.S. Rep. Tim Murphy Admits To Extramarital Affair

The Upper St. Clair Republican is being deposed in a divorce case to which he's not a party.

UPPER ST. CLAIR, PA - U.S. Rep. Tim Murphy, R-Upper St. Clair, acknowledged having had an extramarital affair in a statement issued Wednesday. It was issued after the Pittsburgh Post-Gazette won a motion to have a divorce case Murphy will be deposed in to be unsealed.

Murphy is not a party in the divorce.

“Last year I became involved in an affair with a personal friend. This is nobody’s fault but my own, and I offer no excuses. To the extent that there should be any blame in this matter, it falls solely upon me,” Murphy stated. “I ask the media to respect the privacy of my family. They have done nothing wrong and deserve to be left alone.”
