UPPER ST. CLAIR, PA - The upscale retirement community Friendship Village of South Hills next week will break ground on a $39.6 million expansion.
The new building at the Boyce Road facility will have 50 assisted living apartments, 32 memory support suites and various amenities and wellness services.
"The continued expansion of Friendship Village of South Hills allows us to serve additional area seniors and provide an even greater level of care and hospitality," Friendship Village executive director Bryan Welty said.

Welty said Thursday that Friendship Village has been in Upper St. Clair for nearly 33 years. Its parent company, Lifespace Communities, has been in existence for four decades. Friendship Village currently has 297 apartments and carriage homes.
“We look forward to offering residents more choices, more customized care and health services, and greater support for families of residents,” Welty said. “And we look forward to the impact it will make on the greater Pittsburgh area with the jobs it will create when construction starts on the new building and, eventually, the additional permanent jobs at Friendship Village to provide the expanded services.”
