Temporary traffic signals will be installed along the detour route to aid motorists, but travel time delays are likely. Delays could average about 10 minutes during the busiest morning commute hours, according to RIDOT.
The $10.6 million contract includes resurfacing Rt. 102 at the bridge and its approaches, including the roadway's intersection with Rt. 7. New guardrails, signage, striping and drainage improvements will be installed.
The Mohegan Bridge replacement is funded by RhodeWorks, RIDOT's program to repair structurally deficient bridges and bring the state's transportation infrastructure into good repair.
