Central Falls & Pawtucket To Announce Youth Nonviolence Programs

Mayors from both cities will join the director of the Nonviolence Institute on Thursday.

CENTRAL FALLS, RI – With the school year ending soon, Central Falls and Pawtucket are launching new partnerships to engage youth and support a peaceful summer.

An announcement is expected on Thursday right before a Central Falls High School senior job fair begins, according to the Office of Central Falls Mayor Maria Rivera.

Rivera and Pawtucket Mayor Donald Grebien plan to join Cedric Huntley, executive director of the Nonviolence Institute to announce new partnerships and programs. Central Falls Police Chief Col. Anthony Roberson, Chachi Carvalho of the Pawtucket Community Board, nonviolence outreach specialist Manny Silva, and Jessica Vega, president of the Central Falls City Council are expected to attend.

Rivera and Grebien said graduating seniors should attend the employment and resource fair on Thursday to connect with summer work and other opportunities for life after gradation. The job fair is slated to begin at 1 p.m.

Officials plan to deliver remarks on May 27 at 12:30 p.m. outside of Central Falls High School at 24 Summer Street.
