CHARLESTOWN, RI — Two separate applications for a subdivision called "Summer Winds" have been filed with the Charlestown Planning Commission, and both applications are scheduled for a hearing on Wednesday.

Developers seek a Major Subdivision Comprehensive Permit for a project called Summer Winds. It's on the same land as a separate subdivision proposal also called Summer Winds. The original proposal has not been withdrawn, so "for now there are two different proposals, with the same name, by the same developer, for the same parcel of land," the Charlestown Citizens Alliance reports.

The new application is proposed under the Rhode Island Low and Moderate Income Housing Act. It would involve 37 market rate homes with 10 lots reserved for affordable housing. The Act lets developers to seek waivers from local land use regulations if they build housing that complies with the Act.
