RI State Police Seek Public Input During Accreditation Process
A team from the Commission on Accreditation for Law Enforcement Agencies will examine state police policies and procedures on June 28-30.

NORTH SCITUATE, RI — The Rhode Island State Police is inviting members of the public to participate in the agency's accreditation process.
A team from the Commission on Accreditation for Law Enforcement Agencies, Inc. (CALEA) will examine all aspects of state police policy and procedures, management, operations, and support services. The assessment will take place June 28-30.
"CALEA's accreditation process is rigorous and requires extensive verification to demonstrate that the Rhode Island State Police meets the commission's high standards. We invite the public to participate in the process," said Col. James M. Manni, superintendent of the Rhode Island State Police and director of the Department of Public Safety.

Manni said CALEA accreditation is a "prized recognition of excellence in public safety" and noted that state police in Rhode Island have maintained their accreditation since 1994.

Agency personnel and members of the community are invited to offer comments by telephone, at a virtual public session, or in writing. Comments can be provided by phone on Monday, June 28, 2021 from 1 to 3 p.m. by calling (401) 764-5827. Comments will be limited to 10 minutes.
A virtual public session is set for Tuesday, June 29, beginning at 5 p.m. To participate, visit https://risp.ri.gov/calea. Comments will be limited to 10 minutes.
