Traffic Stop By Scituate Police Yields Magic Mushrooms And LSD

Jason Shalvey of Coventry was pulled over for speeding, arrested for drugs, and cited for having an alcoholic beverage in the car.

SCITUATE, RI — A Saturday morning traffic stop led to a drug arrest for a Coventry man.

At around 8:13 a.m., Scituate police stopped a car for speeding and say they found an open container of alcohol in the vehicle as well as some psilocybin mushrooms, LSD, and less than an ounce of marijuana. Jason P. Shalvey, 35, was arrested and arraigned at the Chopmist Hill Road police station. He was released and given a court date.

According to a release from Police Chief Eric Rollinson, Shalvey was driving 30 mph in a 50 mph zone when he was pulled over by Patrol Officer Shawn Clayton. Shalvey was cited for speeding and driving with an open container. He was also charged with two counts of drug possession.
