Coronavirus: Smithfield Property Tax Deadlines Extended

Smithfield has extended the deadlines for property tax payments from March 31 to April 30; closed public parks and playgrounds.

SMITHFIELD, RI — Smithfield has extended its deadline for property tax and water payments as part of its response to hardships from the coronavirus epidemic. Smithfield is also closing public parks and playgrounds.

The deadline for payments has been extended from March 31 to April 30 without a late penalty. Payment plans will also be offered to any resident who has experienced a hardship related to the coronavirus epidemic and its closures. Tax payment agreements will freeze any penalties and interest related to the payment plan extension.

Water Department payments are extended to April 30 as well.

Smithfield Town Hall is closed to the public until further notice. Residents are urged to residents and businesses to use online resources, mail and the drive-up dropbox in the front of the building.

Smithfield has also banned all games or practices from all town fields and closed all park and playgrounds.
