Coronavirus: Smithfield To Teleconferece Town Council Meeting

Thursday's Smithfield Town Council Meeting will be held via teleconference in order to allow public access.

SMITHFIELD, RI — Smithfield will hold its Thursday night Town Council meeting via teleconference as a way to allow public access amid the coronavirus pandemic. The agenda of the meeting can be found here.

Residents can join the meeting from your computer, tablet or smartphone at https://www.gotomeet.me/Ran…/smithfield-town-council-meeting. It can also be accessed using via phone at 877-568-4106 toll free or 312-757-3129. The access code is 368-625-253.

Smithfield declared a state of emergency due to the coronavirus on Monday. Town Manager Randy Rossi said the declaration runs through March 22 and will be extended following town council action in the coming week.Effectively immediately, all entertainment licenses, mass gatherings and event permits have been revoked. All license holder are restricted from serving or gathering more than 25 patrons at a time. All non-essential public meetings are canceled or postponed.

Town offices will operate with restricted in-person business. Those coming to the town offices must call before they come in. Taxes can be paid online, mailed directly, or put in the dropbox in town hall.
