Dave's Marketplace, Other Businesses Heed Blizzard Warnings and will be Closed Tuesday

With a travel ban in place and potentially historic snowfall, many businesses won't be open on Tuesday.

Governor Gina Raimondo on Monday urged business owners to be mindful of their employees’ safety and consider closing early and not attempting to open Tuesday as a major blizzard is expected to bring tons of snow and hurricane-force winds beginning Monday night.

Dave’s Marketplace, a Rhode Island-based grocery chain with nine locations, is one of those businesses heeding that warning.

The company announced on Facebook that all of its locations will be closed on Tuesday due to the storm and “we are monitoring all incoming weather reports to determine this evening’s closing time.”

Other companies across the state have followed suit, including Belmont Marketplace in Wakefield, all People’s Credit Union locations and dozens of others.

Though other large grocery chains like Stop and Shop might not have made formal announcements about specific store closings, there is a chance that conditions will be so severe on Tuesday that many will be forced to close anyway.
