Former RI State Rep. Ray Fogarty Dead At 61

PROVIDENCE, RI — Former Rhode Island state Representative and longtime Bryant University executive Raymond Fogarty died Thursday. He was 61
Bryant University President Ronald Machtley announced Fogarty's to the school's faculty, staff and students Friday morning. Fogarty graduated from Bryant in 1979 before serving as the executive director of the university's Chafee Center for International Business.
"Through Ray’s long association with Bryant, first as a student and then an administrator, he was a devoted Bryant ambassador, cultivating relationships with faculty, students, and leaders throughout the business community," Machtley said in a written statement. "Ray was named Bryant’s Distinguished Alumnus in 1991."

House Speaker Nicolas Mattielo told WPRI he was deeply saddened by Fogarty's death.
"I had the honor of working with him in promoting trade opportunities and economic activity for Rhode Island, Mattielo said. "He was a tremendous asset for Bryant University and all of Rhode Island’s business community."
