Giving Tuesday: Potter League, Special Olympics and Crossroads RI Among Locals Participating
Here's a chance to remember a favorite community group over the holidays.

SMITHFIELD, RI— Shoppers go gangbusters on Black Friday, and follow it up with Small Business Saturday and Cyber Monday. But another holiday season movement continues to gain steam.
Called #GivingTuesday, it reminds us at the holidays that “it is better to give than to receive.” This day of giving takes place on the Tuesday following Thanksgiving.

#GivingTuesday, described as “a global day of giving fueled by the power of social media and collaboration,” is in its fourth year. As it says on the official website, since its inaugural year in 2012, #GivingTuesday has become a movement that celebrates and supports giving and philanthropy with events throughout the year and a growing catalog of resources.
The concept was created by 92nd Street Y, which is a cultural center in New York City.
If you are looking to join in on the festivities, there are many local groups participating this year. According to the #GivingTuesday local directory, 152 Rhode Island-based groups participating. Here are a few.
