Groundbreaking for New Smithfield Sonic Next Week

The new Sonic restaurant is set to open by Aug. 31.

Crews are starting work at the former Wendy’s on Putnam Pike and a groundbreaking is planned next week for the new Sonic restaurant -- the first in Rhode Island -- set to open later this summer.

Bob Bowen told the Valley Breeze that the restaurant should be open by Aug. 31.

Bowen has signed two franchise agreements with the fast food chain famous for offering drive-in service and has been advertising on Rhode Island TV stations for years despite the nearest being a bit of a drive.
