North Prov. Elementary Teacher Charged With Child Porn Possession

LINCOLN, RI — A North Providence elementary school teacher was arrested Thursday morning and charged with possession of child pornography. Anthony L. Martin, 52, of Lincoln, teaches music at Stephen Olney Elementary School and Centredale Elementary School.
According to Rhode Island State Police, a search of Martin's Central Street home uncovered digital child pornography. Martin was arrested and arraigned in Sixth Division District Court, where he was held on $5,000 bail with the conditions that he have no unsupervised contact with children and that his use of the internet be restricted.
Martin has been a music and band teacher for 25 years, previously teaching in Providence, Massachusetts and Florida. He has been a teacher in North Providence since 1997, teaching in both elementary and middle schools.

If convicted, Martin could face up to five years in prison, a fine of $5,000 or both.
