North Smithfield Pedestrian Crash Leaves Man Seriously Injured
A Cumberland man was hospitalized after being hit by a vehicle on Route 146 North.
SMITHFIELD, RI—A man is suffering from serious injuries following a pedestrian crash in North Smithfield early Tuesday morning.
Adam Belhumeur, 38, of Cumberland, was hospitalized after he was hit by a vehicle on Route 146 North near the Travelers Motor Lodge at approximately 12:09 a.m., according to the Rhode Island State Police.
"The preliminary investigation reveals that at a point approximately 2000 feet south of the intersection with Sayles Hill Avenue, Belhumeur was attempting to cross Route 146 North," said a press release from Rhode Island State Police. "As he entered the high speed lane, Belhumeur was struck by a sedan."

Belhumeur was transported to Rhode Island Hospital by North Smithfield Rescue, where he remains in serious but stable condition.
The driver of the sedan stopped immediately and displayed no signs of impairment, according to police.
