RI State Police Arrest Man After Rt. 6 Crash
One person sustained life-threatening injuries in a four-car crash in Foster Friday evening.
FOSTER, RI — A Connecticut man was arrested after a crash on Route 6 Friday evening, state police said. Steven Casey, 43, of Mansfield, CT, was speeding on Route 6 West when he hit a Toyota Camry from behind, police said.
The crash happened around 6:45 p.m. at the intersection of Route 6 and Cucumber Hill Road in Foster. Casey had been driving erratically and hit the Camry in the left turn lane, causing the car to veer into the eastbound lanes, police said. The Toyota was then struck on its passenger's side by a GMC Sierra.
Casey's Chevrolet Silverado continued slowly down the westbound side of Route 6 and rear-ended a tractor trailer, police said.

The driver of the Toyota was taken to Rhode Island Hospital with moderate injuries, while the passenger was flown to UMass Medical Center in Worcester, MA with life-threatening injuries, police said.
Casey was treated for minor injuries at Rhode Island Hospital and released. He was charged with driving to endanger resulting in serious bodily injury and driving to endanger resulting in bodily injury. He violated his probation on a charge of assault with intent to commit burglary, police said.
