Smithfield Announces Parking Ban, Closures Due To Winter Weather
The parking ban began at 8 a.m. Tuesday and will be in effect until 12 p.m. Wednesday.
SMITHFIELD, RI — The Town of Smithfield has implemented a parking ban from 8 a.m. Tuesday to 12 p.m. Wednesday and announced school closures due to winter weather that is expected to bring two to four inches of snow to parts of Rhode Island.
During the parking ban, all on-street parking is prohibited to allow for snow plow operators to clear the roads. Vehicles that are not moved ahead of the ban may be towed at the owner's expense.
The National Weather Service issued a winter weather advisory early Tuesday morning that will be in effect until 10 p.m. Hazardous road conditions are expected and drivers should be prepared for delays during the morning and evening commutes.
