Smithfield Police Lodge To Host Charity Softball Game
Fundraising for sixth annual game between Smithfield police officers and retired pro players to include resident and business solicitations.
SMITHFIELD, RI — Residents and local business could be receiving calls for donations in advance of the sixth annual Smithfield Fraternal Order of Police Lodge No. 17 charity softball game. The game pitting Smithfield police officers and retired professional baseball players will be played June 19 at Whipple Field.
As part of the event, Smithfield police has teamed with KR Baseball to provide hitting and pitching instruction to youngsters. There will also be a meet and greet with the former pro athletes.
Police are alerting those who may receive calls that this is a legitimate charitable organization. Anyone with questions or concerns about the solicitations are asked to call Smithfield Patrol Officer Ryan Perry at 401-231-2500 ext. 242.
