Smithfield Police To Offer Self-Defense Course For Women

Smithfield police self-defense course will teach woman how to avoid being a target and take action if they are involved with an assault.

SMITHFIELD, RI —Smithfield police will conduct a five-week self-defense class for woman beginning Feb. 25. The class will offer tips on how to avoid being a target for an assault and what can be done if you become a victim of assault.

The course is free to Smithfield residents, Smithfield High students and employee of a Smithfield business who is at least 17 years old. The class will run Thursdays from 6:40 to 8:30 p.m. at the Sgt. Norman G. Vezina Community & Training Room. Seating is limited to 20 participants and selection will come on a first-come, first-serve basis.
