Smithfield Proposed Fiscal 2020-21 Budget
A public hearing and budget adoption meeting is scheduled for July 21.
SMITHFIELD, RI — Calling the Fiscal Year 2021 budget "one of the most challenging in recent history," Smithfield town officials have prepared the budget for a public hearing and budget adoption scheduled for July 21.
The hearing will be 7 p.m. and will be held remotely. Residents can access the meeting here and by calling 877-568-4106 or 646-749-3129 with an access code of 342-830-965.
This year's proposed budget includes a 2.2 percent increase in total spending over 2020.

Schools account for 51.2 percent of the budget, with municipal services 43 percent, capital services 1.9 percent and debt services 3.9 percent.
There is no tax increase proposed in the budget.
