Smithfield Surveys Interest In Distance Learning Opportunities

Smithfield is asking parents, guardians to fill out a survey as the town prepares for a return to school amid the coronavirus crisis.

SMITHFIELD, RI — Smithfield is looking to determine what percentage of parents are interested in a distance-learning option, among other feedback, as part of a survey parents are asked to take.

Districts were required to submit plans to the state for three opening scenarios: full, partial, and virtual.

"If the state mandates a full or partial in-person scenario, the current guidance does not allow districts to provide a distance learning option to families," the town said. "It is critical that we know how many families are interested in a distance-learning option if it becomes possible."
