Smithfield, Woonsocket Men Charged In Parking Lot Altercation
Smithfield police said they charged the men after responding to the report of a fight, including a knife, in a parking lot on Monday.
SMITHFIELD, RI — Smithfield police said they charged a Smithfield man and Woonsocket man after they responded to a fight, which may have included a knife, in a parking lot Monday morning. Police said the incident occurred in the lot at 400 Putnam Pike.
Police said the suspects, who knew each other, had been separated by the time they arrived and that the incident stemmed from a prior disagreement. Police said John Trombley, 52, of Smithfield was charged with simple assault and disorderly conduct. Police said Edward Macomber, 52, of Woonsocket was arrested on an outstanding family court warrant.
Police said both men were examined at the scene with no injuries reported.
