State Police Arrest Smithfield Woman On Computer Fraud Charges
State Police said Lynn Gaulin, a former Providence County Superior Court deputy civil court clerk, improperly accessed State Police files.
SMITHFIELD, RI — Rhode Island State Police arrested a Smithfield woman and former Providence Superior Court deputy civil court clerk on Monday on a warrant for three counts of accessing a computer in the State Police Computer Crimes Unit for fraudulent use. State Police said North Providence police located Lynn Gaulin, 51, and transported her to State Police headquarters about 7:30 Monday night.
State Police accuse Gaulin of improperly accessing court cases in which she, or a family member, were named, according to the Associated Press, then sealing those cases without a judge's order.
Gaulin was fired in August and was released pending her next court date on March 9.
