State Police Charge Connecticut Man: Cucumber Hill Road Shooting
Rhode Island and Connecticut state police arrested a Voluntown, Conn., man who allegedly shot a 26-year-old victim in Foster.

SCITUATE, RI—Rhode Island and Connecticut state police troopers have arrested a Voluntown, Conn., man who allegedly shot a 26-year-old victim in Foster. Jeremiah Kyle Blake, 25, was charged on Thursday morning with four offenses in connection with the April 29 incident, according to Laura Meade Kirk, Rhode Island State Police spokeswoman. The charges are:
- Using a Firearm While Committing a Crime of Violence
- Assault with a Deadly Weapon
- Firing in a Compact Area
- Disorderly Conduct (fighting, threatening, violent and tumultuous behavior).
The victim, Jesse Poznanski, 26, of Foster, was hit in the right shoulder. He was taken to Rhode Island Hospital, treated and released. The two men got into a fight around 1 a.m. on Cucumber Hill Road, state police allege. An investigation led them to suspect Blake, and an arrest warrant was obtained.
Blake waived extradition in Connecticut and was arraigned in Rhode Island in district court. Bail was set at $20,000 with surety.
