Thunderstorms Likely Tuesday Afternoon and Evening for RI

The storms could bring damaging wind, downpours and frequent lightning strikes to some areas.

RHODE ISLAND—Be prepared to take cover at some point Tuesday as thunderstorms are possible through the afternoon and evening.

The National Weather Service,in a Hazardous Weather Outlook issued Tuesday morning, predicted storms that could be strong to severe with gusty, damaging winds. As other storms in recent weeks, they could bring frequent lightning and torrential downpours.

A batch of thunderstorms was brewing over eastern Connecticut and appeared are expected to reach many Rhode Island communities sometime between 1 and 2 p.m.
