COVID-19 May Update: Cases, Testing, Vaccinations
An update on COVID-19 cases in the territory, as well as vaccines and pop-up testing sites.

ST. CROIX, USVI — There is a small uptick in new COVID-19 cases this week. Currently, there are 77 active cases in the territory. All of the new cases are among people who have not been vaccinated and the majority of those individuals work in accommodation or food services.

- Janssen vaccine available at the Nissan Center on Wednesday, May 26 until 1 p.m. Walk-ins welcome.
To date, the following vaccines have been administered in the territory:
- 39,871 first doses (50.2% of the population)
- 31,645 persons fully vaccinated (39.9% of the population)

- The V.I. Port Authority Gravel Yard on St. John on Wednesday, May 26, from 1 to 4 p.m.
- Home Depot on St. Croix on Thursday,May 27, time from 10:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m.
- Lionel Roberts Stadium on St. Thomas on Thursday, May 27, from 1 to 3 p.m.
Residents can pre-register for testing online at www.covid19usvi.com/testing.
COVID-19 cases as of May 22
- 3.23% positivity rate
- Currently tracking 77 active cases (8 STX; 64 STT; 5 STJ).
- 111,921 individuals tested to date.
- 108,568 of those tests were negative.
- 3,353 tests came back positive.
- 3,249 people have recovered.
- 27 fatalities.
- No COVID-19 patients are hospitalized at Juan F. Luis Medical Center on St. Croix.
- Four COVID-19 patients, none on ventilators, currently are hospitalized at Schneider Regional Medical Center on St. Thomas.
The Department of Health is encouraging children ages 12 and up to get the COVID-19 vaccine. Parents can schedule their child’s appointment with the Virgin Islands Department of Health at covid19usvi.com/vaccines or call the appointment line at (340) 777-8227. All minors must be accompanied by a legal guardian or parent and must present a birth certificate or other official identification.
