Forecasters Watch Low Pressure System, USVI In The Clear
The National Hurricane Center is tracking a low pressure system in the southwest Caribbean, giving it a 20% chance of becoming a storm.
U.S. VIRGIN ISLANDS — Hurricane season wasted no time getting started. We're less than a week into the Atlantic Hurricane season and the National Hurricane Center is tracking a low pressure system in the southwestern Caribbean Sea.
Forecasters say the disturbance has a relatively small chance of developing into something big, only 20% of becoming a tropical storm over the next 5 days. And the system is already clear of the U.S. Virgin Islands.
The National Hurricane Center called for an active 2021 storm season, and Patch USVI will be covering them all. The next named storm of the 2021 season will be Bill.
