Our mothers, grandmothers, aunts, godmothers, mothers-in-law, foster moms, and mother-figures add a special beauty and lasting richness to our lives that we must greatly treasure. Our mothers are our first teachers, nurses, and wise counselors who comfort us when life sends unexpected challenges.
This Mother’s Day, I encourage all to take time to recognize a mother who has significantly influenced your life. Her greatest gift will be your loving hugs or your heartfelt message or phone call.

I reflect often on the times shared with my mother and still feel her loving grace and protection. I think of the many Virgin Islanders celebrating the memory of their mothers today and the others who may have to celebrate their mothers from a distance because of the pandemic.
Special Happy Mother’s Day wishes to some of the remarkable women in my life, including First Lady Yolanda Bryan, my mother-in-law Carmen Barreiros, My Aunt Joan, and Iona Roach, mother of the Lt. Governor. May God bless all Virgin Islands mothers with abundant health and happiness.
